Levand Construction handled drywall and shower waterproofing for a custom residential project in North York, Toronto. The progress photos show the work beneath the final finishes: wall and ceiling boarding, details around a skylight, joint compound at drywall seams, and KERDI-BOARD panels in the shower area.
What did Levand Construction do on this North York project?
Our scope was drywall and shower waterproofing. The ten-photo record follows several stages of that work inside the home, from an open ceiling with boarded walls to ceiling drywall and joint finishing. In the bathroom, the photos show shower board installation alongside the surrounding drywall.
North York is part of Toronto, Ontario. This project is one example of the interior work Levand Construction carries out in the city and the wider GTA.
What do the drywall progress photos show?
The skylight is a useful reference point across the photos. In the earlier views, ceiling framing and insulation remain exposed above installed wall drywall. Later views show ceiling boards fitted around the skylight and openings for recessed lighting. Another image shows joint compound along the wall and ceiling seams.
The fireplace wall, window openings and ceiling cutouts also give a closer look at how the drywall fits the space. These details are easier to see during construction, before paint and trim cover the work.
Drywall boarding and joint finishing are separate stages. Tape and compatible joint compound form part of a gypsum-panel joint treatment system, as outlined in USG’s guidance on joint tape and compound.
Why does shower waterproofing matter before tile?
The waterproofing assembly sits behind the tile and needs attention at joints, corners, fasteners and plumbing penetrations. A photo of installed boards is a record of one stage, rather than proof that the entire shower assembly is complete.
The orange panels pictured here are Schluter KERDI-BOARD. Schluter describes them as a waterproof tile substrate and specifies additional treatment at board joints and penetrations. Its KERDI-BOARD product guidance and KERDI-BAND information explain how those components work together.
In this project’s shower photos, the board joints, fasteners and plumbing openings remain visible. We’re sharing the installation progress as photographed, without presenting these images as a finished tiled bathroom or a record of a completed waterproofing test.
What should you ask about a similar project?
Ask what the drywall scope includes, which shower waterproofing system is planned, and how progress will be documented before final finishes cover it. The room layout, existing surfaces and wet-area details help define the work, so send photos of the space when requesting a quote.
